Having finally determined WHAT it is that I want to do with my life, I proceeded to ask, WHY?
In the words of Simon Sinek, “why should I get out of bed in the morning,” and furthermore, “why should anyone care?”
One must question the priorities of a nation that acknowledges fresh fruits and vegetables as the necessary bulk of a healthy diet, yet refuses to subsidize such produce. I am deeply disheartened by the inaccessibility of unadulterated food products within the United States and equally disappointed by the surge of convoluted nutritional messages.
That said, things ARE changing! With the explosion of Whole Foods, the onslaught of farmers markets, and rise in availability of organics, demand is transparent. We are undeniably amidst a food revolution!
WHY am I compelled to participate in this revolution?
I am dedicated to reconstructing relationships with food.
I am passionate about promoting the education of food as fuel .
I am determined to aid in the accessibility of whole food products.
I am confident we can rediscover food as medicine.
With the WHAT and the WHY clearly defined, it’s time to map the HOW.
HOW can I make a difference?
The golden question indeed! Is this the hard part, or simply the scary part? It’s easy to talk about our dreams and desires. Why are we so challenged when it comes to the application of action? All it truly takes is belief.
Ask yourself, what is the best case senerio? Once answered, focus attention and faith in the outcome. It WILL materialize.
“Your ability to shape your destiny is directly proportional to your belief that it is a matter of will and determination.” ~James A. Owen
